CYBERJAYA, Nov 12 ― MCA ticked off political foe DAP today for allegedly criticising the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s bilateral ties with China when the Opposition party relies heavily on the local Sino community for support.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong claimed the DAP only flashed the racial card when it suited them, but conveniently ignored it to level attacks against the ruling coalition when the government was at an advantage.
"DAP also criticised China for having too much bilateral ties with Malaysia, so please highlight this point, so that you can ask their MP to answer as well.
"Do not just get Chinese votes. After you forget about Chinese votes, and then you go and criticise BN for having good bilateral ties with China,” the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department told a news conference after opening the MCA Youth wing’s 52nd annual general meeting here.
Last month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak led a Malaysian delegation to China and inked some 14 business deals worth some RM144 billion, said to be among the biggest investments undertaken by the Asian giant.
Several Opposition politicians including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad accused the Najib administration of selling the country to China.
The DAP, however, silent on the matter.
