PETALING JAYA, Nov 7 — The One-Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) recorded a total of 666 domestic violence cases in the first quarter of the year.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said of the number, 523 cases involved physical abuse against women while 20 others saw men on the receiving end.

"Rape cases involving women were recorded at 89, of the total number. As for sodomy involving men and women, it recorded 10 and 15 cases, respectively.

"The remaining cases involved senior citizens and children,” he said in his speech at the OSCC Conference 2016 here today.

Meanwhile, Dr Hilmi said the conference served as a medium to empower service to treat domestic violence victims and defend human rights.

The 24th edition of the conference themed, ‘OSCC: The Multidimensional Intervention — The Solution for Multidimensional Crisis’, saw 170 participants from various government agencies and non-governmental organisations. — Bernama
