KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — Several witnesses will be called in the investigation on the derailment of a cargo train in Kampung Bakap, near Batu Gajah station, Perak last Friday.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad said the investigation was expected to be completed in two weeks after obtaining further information.

"After the investigation report has been been completed, it will be submitted to the Transport Ministry and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) for evaluation and further action,” said KTMB in a statement today.

KTMB said the damaged track would be restored in a week’s time.

In the 3.15 am incident on Oct 28, two locomotives and 40 coaches from Kuang, Selangor heading to Tasek, Perak to transport a load of cement derailed at KM200.332 Kota Bharu-Lahat in Perak.

KTMB said its train services were operating as normal as at 3 pm yesterday.

However, train services in the route would experience a delay of 30 minutes as only one track could be used.
