KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 ― Putrajaya is seeking to suspend DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng for six months after the his row with speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
The motion appeared at No. 2 in the Order Paper of Dewan Rakyat today and is expected to be read out later today by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman.
Lim called Pandikar a "disgrace" to Parliament before he was ejected from a special chambers sitting in Parliament two days ago.
Pandikar had earlier voiced his dissatisfaction at Lim for the latter's consistent criticism of the speaker made through public statements.
The motion referred to several past criticisms that Lim had directed at Pandikar in the past.
"The actions and statements by Segambut is an insult to the speaker, which means this is also an insult to the Dewan Rakyat,” it said, referring to Lim.
If the suspension is passed, Lim will become the second DAP lawmaker to face a six month suspension, after his veteran DAP colleague Lim Kit Siang, who was also suspended last year for remarks made about Pandikar.
PKR's Padang Serai MP N Surendran previously served two separate six month suspensions, on both occasions due to criticisms against Pandikar's handling of Dewan Rakyat procedures.
