KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 ― Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia warned Pakatan Harapan lawmakers today not to mess with him after their walkout during the tabling of Budget 2017 last Friday.

He chastised them for staging the walkout halfway through the tabling by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak that caused a disruption to the proceedings.

"Don't play games with me. The walkout, I know it was just a matter of timing, it was already planned,” Pandikar said to the lower House.

He was explaining to Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo who questioned the Speaker’s decision against taking questions related to the ongoing US Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) assets on grounds that is sub judice.

When asked by some MPs to explain what he meant, Pandikar said that he had received information for both sides of the political divide that the walkout was already in the cards for the day.

"I know not everyone who walked out wanted to walk out, but they had to toe the line. Similarly, not everyone on this side (BN) wanted to do what they did, but they toed the party line,” Pandikar said further.

Earlier, Pandikar did not make a ruling when asked by Gobind whether debating on the DOJ case in the Parliament would also be tantamount to sub judice.

This was after Pandikar made a ruling last week that none of the oral and written questions pertaining to the DOJ case will be answered due to sub judice.

"I cannot make a ruling for an issue that has not yet arisen,” Pandikar said, pointing out that budget debates are yet to commence and the speaker and deputy speaker will make a ruling as and when the situation arises.
