Recalled Marigold HL Milk’s contamination rectified, new batches being delivered now

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Bacterial contamination in the affected Marigold HL Milk that was recalled has been rectified and new batches are on their way to stores now, its producer said today.

Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd said it had recently voluntarily recalled its Marigold HL Milk (200ml and 1 litre) products as a precautionary measure, following customer feedback that the viscosity or thickness of Marigold HL Chocolate Milk being higher than usual.

"The company has ascertained the source of the issue and successfully rectified it. The quality of the milk was compromised due to bacterial contamination.

"Side effects of consuming the compromised quality of milk may include mild stomach discomfort. There are no long term side effects,” the company said in a statement today, confirming that its plant has since resumed normal production.

The company’s general manager Poh Eng Lip said customers’ health and safety is Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd’s "top priority” and confirmed that all products have been successfully recalled from retail outlets.

"An additional and more stringent Quality Control is now in place on finished products to keep a daily check on products to ensure conformity with the highest international standards,” Poh said in the same statement.

Yesterday, Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd said customer feedback was specifically on the Marigold HL chocolate milk, but added that it was taking proactive measures by recalling all other products including Marigold HL plain milk, Marigold HL strawberry milk and Marigold HL with plant sterols.

It said it was recalling these milk products with expiry dates of before November 7 for Peninsular Malaysia and before November 11 for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
