Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak attracted nearly 13,000 visitors

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16— The Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak, in its seventh edition, drew nearly 13,000 visitors including those from the federal capital as well as Sarawakians living in the peninsular and students from Sarawak.

Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the programme could foster closer ties between Sarawakians in the peninsular and the leaders from the state.

"Those who attend can communicate in various dialects of different ethnicities such as the Iban and Bidayuh, and this will strengthen the unity among them even though they are far away from the state,” he said at the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak dinner at Dewan Tun Razak, Putra World Trade Centre, here, last night.

Also present were Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot.

At the dinner, visitors were entertained with performances of Sarawak ethnic dances and singer Bob of Akademi Fantasia fame apart from being served with various types of Sarawak traditional delicacies.

The one-day Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak event, organised by Sarawakians in Peninsular Association, have lined up programmes such as Randau Bersama Menteri which discussed various issues concerning Sarawakians and also a career expo.

A visitor, Ardi Putera Zainuddin, 24, from Kuching, a public servant travelled all the way to Kuala Lumpur to participate in this programme.

"I’m so excited to be a part of this event as it is a chance for me to forge closer relationship with a friend who is working in Kuala Lumpur,” he said. — Bernama
