KUALA NERUS, Oct 7 — The Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee (BPUNT) has denied the list of candidates purportedly to contest in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14) which was published by a newspaper.
Its chairman Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, who is also Terengganu Mentri Besar, expressed regret over the news report which was based solely from sources on WhatApps application.
"I am very disappointed as it very irresponsible for the newspaper to interpret the list as "leaked”. We at BPUNT have not submitted any list of names yet as it is not requested by the Umno Supreme Council. I am worried that another list of names will follow suit.
"So far there have been no discussion on names,” he told reporters after a gathering of the state Umno information machinery which was attended by party information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the press should ensure the news were from authentic and legitimate sources before publishing it.
Ahmad Razif said the party was strong and its machinery was ready to face the GE14. — Bernama
