GEORGE TOWN, Oct 7 — A teenage boy lost his right hand after he was slashed by an armed robber at a petrol station in Bandar Baru Air Itam, here today.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 18-year-old victim was walking home from a 24-hour convenience store with a friend when the incident occurred at about 5am.
"A man armed with a machete slashed the victim in his leg. The victim tried to escape but fell off before his right hand was chopped off by the suspect who then took his gold ring,” he said when contacted here today.
He said the 20-year-old victim’s friend tried to help him but the suspect had threatened to harm him if he interfered.
The suspect fled in a Proton Perdana car and the victim was treated at the Penang Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. — Bernama
