Wanita MCA wants Rafizi probed for IS links

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 ― Wanita MCA urged the police today to investigate PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli for alleged associations with the Islamic State (IS).

Wanita MCA chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie also said Red Shirts leader Datuk Jamal Yunos ― who claimed that he had received information from Rafizi linking Bersih 2.0 to the Islamist militants, which Rafizi has categorically denied ― "may hold some water”.

"Why is Rafizi so keen to dismiss Jamal’s allegations unless has something to hide?

"On the contrary, Rafizi should welcome the police to probe him for IS links or any issue since he is so confident that he is clean,” Heng said in a statement.

Heng, who is adviser on national unity and integration in the Prime Minister’s Department, also accused the Pandan MP of betraying Bersih 2.0 and of scheming to put those who join the electoral reform group’s rallies at risk, even though most of Bersih’s protests in the past were largely peaceful.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, submitted yesterday to the police a file he said contained information to tie Bersih 2.0 to IS militants.

The Red Shirts movement that he leads has been aggressive in its confrontations with Bersih 2.0 during the polls watchdog’s nationwide convoy ahead of the Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumpur on November 19.
