SUNGAI PETANI, Oct 3 — She was there to have supper at a fast-food outlet in a mall here last night.

Instead, Nurul Haslina Abdul Halim experienced a ‘fast delivery’ of a different kind — a baby girl — who was due only on October 28.

The 27-year-old housewife said she was at the Marrybrown restaurant with her husband, Mohd Lutfi Hussein, 33, to have ‘nasi lemak’ after shopping for essential items for their baby when she suddenly felt abdominal pains.

"As the baby was about to be born, I felt pain in my abdomen but I thought that was normal since there was no indication of giving birth. However, as I stood to wash my hands, my water bag broke.

"My husband later sought help from the restaurant’s staff since I couldn’t move. Coincidentally, there was a nurse from a private clinic who happened to be at the scene and she helped me through,” Nurul Haslina told reporters when met at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) here today.

She said her second child, weighing 2.56kg, was born at 11.20pm and they were taken to HSAH.

"I was actually expecting to give birth on October 28,” she said, adding that she would name the baby, Nor Dayana.

The couple, from Kulim near here, were married in 2011 and have a 13-month-old son, Muhammad Aqhar Mohd Lufti.

Meanwhile, restaurant manager Shahrizal Daud visited mother and baby at the hospital, and handed over flowers and a hamper. — Bernama
