KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — The Consulate General of Malaysia and the Malaysian Association in the United Arab Emirates (MY-UAE) co-hosted an Aidiladha celebration with Malaysian expatriates at the Matrade Hall in Dubai today.

The event was also supported by prominent Malaysian companies in the UAE, such as Eversendai, Operon Middle East, DK Schweizer and Khind, the consulate- general said in a statement.

It said that about 600 Malaysian expatriates and their families from Dubai and Northern Emirates attended the event, which the consulate general had organised as part of a public diplomacy programme to establish rapport with Malaysians overseas.

Ustaz Shushilil Azam Shuib, Consul of the Education Malaysia Office, delivered the Aidiladha sermon, it said.

The statement said the gathering enjoyed various Malaysian delicacies such as nasi lemak, mee hoon goreng, roti canai and other dishes served at the event.

"These delicacies were prepared in the spirit of togetherness by Malaysians and the consulate office,” it said, adding that the event gave an opportunity for Malaysians in Dubai and Northern Emirates to celebrate Aidiladha together in Dubai. — Bernama
