PUTRAJAYA, Sept 8 — The Home Ministry (KDN) will collaborate with the Higher Education Ministry in a bid to curb Daesh influence among students of higher-learning institutions (IPT).

KDN secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said such an early preventive measure was vital to ensure that the militant group's ideology would not be spread among the students.

"Although the number of students said to be involved in Daesh (militant activities) is small, we will continue taking preventive measures because we don't want the IPT students to be influenced by elements that can threaten national security."

He said this when officiating the closing of the knowledge-sharing programme on the current wave of foreign threats against Malaysia and the country's preparations to face it, which was organised by the Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) here today.

Also present was Puspanita president Puan Sri Rohani Abdullah.

Alwi also advised all quarters to play a more effective role in curbing the threats of the militant group.

"The threats could not be curbed by one enforcement agency working alone. Without the support from all quarters, it would be difficult for the agency to act effectively," he added. — Bernama
