KOTA BELUD, Sept 3 — Umno members at all levels should expose the weaknesses and discrepancies of opposition parties so that the people will become aware and understand that the opposition is not capable of administering the country, said Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.

He said the people must be informed that the opposition could not be given the trust to govern the country as they themselves were now ‘clawing at each other’.

"They keep on clawing at each other because they are scrambling for seats or due to the policies of the opposition parties themselves. They were part of Pakatan Rakyat before but not anymore, after PAS withdrew from the pact due to difference in ideology,” he said.

Salleh, who is also communications and multimedia minister, was speaking to reporters after opening the Kota Belud Umno division delegates meeting here today.

He added that on the contrary, it was a known fact especially among the people that the Barisan Nasional (BN) is the party that works as a team and has a clear leadership made up of the prime minister, deputy prime minister and Cabinet members.

Salleh also said the opposition did not even have an shadow cabinet line-up to be presented to the people on who would become prime minister should they win in the general election.

"They don’t dare to tell who will actually become their prime minister. How to bank on them when they themselves cannot even decide their leadership?

"We have to be fair to the people in Malaysia. For BN, whether it has its own weaknesses or strengths, it has created a strong team and people must give their strong support,” he said.

Therefore, Salleh advised the people to weigh in a number of things before making any choice and to make decisions rationally, not emotions.

He said for that, the people must support BN so that it would continue to lead the country as the BN-led government had proved its capabilities to administer the country and bring prosperity to the people, as compared to the opposition who do not have a clear idea on how to develop the nation.

Salleh said although the administration under BN still had shortcomings, the government led by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had always been open and willing to hear views from others for improvement. — Bernama
