GEORGE TOWN, Sept 2 — Lim Keat Seong, the father of Sungai Pinang DAP assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations into allegations that he solicited money from applicants of low cost and affordable housing projects in Penang.

Assistant court registrar Muna Maria Azmi granted the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission's (MACC) application to detain the 68-year-old for further questioning starting today until next Friday.

Yesterday, MACC officers interrogated Keat Seong for almost five hours at the MACC state headquarters along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah here from 1pm till about 5pm.

The MACC officers also raided two apartments last night and seized documents in relations to the case.

Siew Khim turned up at MACC at 10am today to assist in investigations into the case as a witness.

Accompanied by lawyers, Ramkarpal Singh and RSN Rayer, Siew Khim left the MACC office more than an hour later.

It is learnt that more than 10 witnesses have been called in to have their statements recorded over the alleged graft case involving applications for low cost and affordable housing that was exposed last week.

MACC is investigating the case under Section 16 (b) of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Act for corruptly soliciting gratification as an inducement to offer the other person benefits.

Penang Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong revealed a video clip last week that allegedly showed Keat Seong in discussions with two others over payments being made to apply for low cost housing.
