PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2 — Khairy Jamaluddin today said he plans to publicise the contents of the Johor regent’s pendrive purportedly containing evidence of corruption at the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
The youth and sports minister said he received the pendrive from Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, adding that the information contained on 279 pages must be made known to the public.
However, he said that he was asked to hold off from doing so pending the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) investigation into the matter.
"Since many assumptions have been made, I suggested to the MACC that after their investigation, I would like to reveal the pendrive's content to the public.
"MACC asked me to give them time to investigate the contents, and only after that am I allowed to reveal all," he told reporters here after handing over the compact storage device to MACC.
Khairy arrived at MACC's headquarters at 11.30am and handed over the pendrive to MACC's investigation director Datuk Azam Baki.
He declined to comment on whether the allegations of abuse at the FAM were true.
"That, I leave to MACC to conduct their investigations. Investigate first and then announce if there is anything at all or not," he said referring to the corruption allegation.
Khairy added that he has given enough hints. He previously commented that the information mainly concerned FAM's technical issues.
"I say I have no problem giving my statements and I have already informed Datuk Azam Baki, when and from whom I got it from," Khairy, who had also handed in information in documents form, added.
FAM yesterday announced that it is investigating the individual who handed the pendrive to Tunku Ismail, and will take stern action against the person.
