KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 ― The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission is tracing more witnesses to help investigations relating to the case on corruption and abuse of bank authority, said MACC director of investigations Datuk Azam Baki.

Azam said MACC tracked them from conversation recordings of people who had been arrested.

"We have recorded statements from more than 10 people, including a bank managing director, contractor and private parties involved,” he said when contacted here today.

Azam said other witnesses traced included those who held various positions from throughout the country.

However, he said, the number of witnesses relating to the corruption offence had yet to be determined.

On August 29, a bank officer with the title of "Tan Sri” was detained by MACC to facilitate investigations in a corruption and abuse of power case.

The Tan Sri is the third person from the bank arrested by MACC in connection with the same case.

A managing director with the title of "Datuk” was arrested on August 25 and another officer the following day. ― Bernama
