KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 ― Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today shared a video clip on the Orang Asli community in Sungai Ruil, Cameron Highlands who were given new homes after they were affected by a landslide tragedy five years ago. 

"God willing, the Sungai Ruil Orang Asli people can now live and earn a living in safer and better conditions in their new village.

"No community will be sidelined in national development, this is what the government wants and constantly fights for,” he said in the three-minute video clip posted on his Facebook account today.

Yesterday, Najib spent about 20 minutes visiting the area which has 152 semi-detached houses and five community homes that were completed early this year.

The resettlement of the Sungai Ruil Orang Asli was done by the Public Works Department after their village was hit by a massive landslide on Aug 7, 2011.

The RM50-million project on a 26.3-hectare site benefited about 900 residents from the Semai tribe. ― Bernama
