MACC detains director of publishing company to assist in RM15mn book probe

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 — A book publishing company director was remanded for seven days beginning today to assist in the investigation into a case of abuse of power and misappropriation of funds totalling RM15 million.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman at the Magistrate’s Court, here this morning.

The 40-year-old man was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at his residence in Kuantan, Pahang yesterday.

Yesterday, four men including a managing director of a local bank was remanded for three days to assist in the same case.

The 48-year-old man with a Datuk title was remanded concerning a case on a tender for a change in the banking system and the publication of a biography on a national leader.

The case is investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama
