Thai DPM to meet Zahid to discuss bilateral affairs in working visit to Malaysia this month

BANGKOK, Aug 24 — Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan will be on a working visit to Malaysia later this month and meet his counterpart, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Prawit, who is also defence minister and minister responsible for security affairs will discuss several issues of common interest with Ahmad Zahid, who is also home minister.

"I will discuss several issues involving border affairs and border fences, the customs complex which is under construction at the moment, dual citizenship and land transport,” he told the media at the Government House here today.

Early this month, Ahmad Zahid was in Bangkok for a two-day working visit during which he held separate bilateral meeting with Prawit and another of Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Wissanu Krea-ngam.

Among the issues discussed during Ahmad Zahid’s visit to Thailand were on Malaysians and Thais holding dual citizenship, border affairs and Malaysia’s criminals taking refuge in Thailand. — Bernama
