BELURAN, Aug 16 — Police seized 50.1 grams of Syabu estimated to be worth RM8,000 from an illegal taxi with two Filipino women at KM68 Jalan Nangoh-Paitan near Kampung Tagas-Tagas today.

Beluran Polis District chief Supt Sivanathan Velautham said the driver, aged 34, and the two women aged 24 and 53 — one a self-employed and another working as a store assistant — were arrested after the Proton Iswara car they were in was stopped by police for inspection during Ops Tapis Dadah at 4am.

The package containing the drugs was found in a handbag of the 24-year-old woman, he said in a statement today.

He said initial urine tests also showed the suspects were positive for drugs while the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
