Najib receives courtesy call from Philippine delegates

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 15 — Philippine Presidential Adviser to the Peace Process, Jesus G.Dureza, and delegation today called on Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the premier’s office here. 

Dureza and his delegation including Secretary of the Interior and the Local Government, Ismael D.Sueno and Martin Andanar from the Presidential Communications Operations Office and Ambassador of the Philippines to Malaysia, J.Eduardo Malaya arrived at Perdana Putra at about 9.15am. 

Also among the delegation were Head of Government of the Philippines Implementing Panel, Irene M.Santiago and four members of the panel, Diosita T.Andot, Nabil A.Tan, Rolando Asuncion and Dickson P.Hermoso. 

It was reported that members of the Government of the Philippines’ new implementing panel and representatives of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) had a meeting in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to formally relaunch the Implementing Phase of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro. 

Najib in his statement Saturday hailed the relaunch of Bangsamoro Peace Deal, saying Malaysia would remain committed to the Bangsamoro peace deal for as long as was desired.

The Bangsamoro peace process has undergone adjustments for over 17 years through negotiations between the Philippine Government and MILF.

A comprehensive peace deal between both parties which was brokered by Malaysia, was signed on March 27, 2014. — Bernama
