ALOR STAR, Aug 14 — The Kedah government is willing to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on a claim of embezzlement of fund in the upgrading of a water treatment plant in Kuala Nerang.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said Kedah state government leave the matter to the MACC to investigate and will assist if needed. The state government will not protect anyone.

"We need to look into the validity of the claim because they (PAS) just made the claim. If it is true, the MACC can investigate the individuals without having to ask them to own up,” he said after the launch of Fly Jalur Gemilang ceremony, here today.

Earlier, PAS Youth represented by Kedah PAS Youth chief Mohd Azam Abd Samat, lodged a report and urged the MACC to investigate claim of embezzlement of fund for the water treatment plant project in Kampung Mani, Kuala Nerang. — Bernama
