DENGKIL, Aug 9 ― Over 100,000 consumers in Semenyih, Beranang, parts of Hulu Langat and those living along the Lekas Highway will receive treated water supply once the Semenyih 2 Water Treatment Plant is fully completed by end of next year.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the new 100 million litre capacity plant in Jenderam Hilir worth RM180 million would be sufficient to meet the demands of raw and treated water supply in terms of quality and quantity.
"Its construction was a quick solution to increase the water supply while waiting for the Langat 2 project to be completed and operated in 2019,” he said after the water plant ground-breaking ceremony, here, today.
He said in ensuring treated water supply is sufficient for Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, another water treatment plant at Labohan Dagang, Kuala Langat, would be constructed in the near future and could increase the water supply by up to 400 million litres a day.
In a separate event, Mohamed Azmin handed out land titles to 24 residents of Desa Timah Langat, here, a 73-door quarters that was constructed 40 years ago for tin mining workers. ― Bernama
