34 foreigners nabbed in raid at family entertainment centre

BUTTERWORTH, Aug 3 — Thirty-four foreigners working at a family entertainment centre in a shopping mall in Jalan Baru, Perai here, were detained in a raid last night.

Penang Immigration Department deputy assistant director Fairuz Ismail said the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) also participated in the operation at 8.30pm.

"Those detained comprised 33 Bangladeshi men and a Nepali man, aged 25 to 40 years. They did not have any identification documents and had abused their social visit passes,” he said here today.

He said the family entertainment centre offered karaoke, machine simulator, snooker, cafe, mini bar and restaurant facilities.

MPSP also issued a summons for the offence of operating without a business licence for snooker, he said. — Bernama
