Muar police bust local drug syndicate, seize 23kg of heroin

MUAR, July 25 — Police busted a new local drug syndicate with the arrest of four men in a raid on a house in Pagoh Jaya here two days ago.

Muar Police Chief ACP Azman Ayob said during the raid, police also seized nearly 23kg of heroin worth RM456,300 and other items including luxury cars and mobile phones worth almost RM1 million.

"In the 4.45 pm raid, we seized three cars, namely an Audi A5, BMW Z4 and a Proton Perdana.

"A total of 51 packets of heroin worth almost RM456,300 were found hidden in the Audi.

"Also seized were cash of RM13,950 and 12 mobile phones,” he told reporters here today.

Azman said the four suspects, aged between 31 and 39, were tested positive for drugs and had been remanded until July 30 for further investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 which provides mandatory death penalty upon conviction. — Bernama
