GEORGE TOWN, July 24 — Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng, wife of former Penang chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, died this morning following a relapse of cancer.
Chui, 65, was surrounded by family members when she breathed her last at 1 am at Gleneagles Medical Centre here.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak via his Twitter account had offered his deepest condolences as he wrote: "Received sad news on the passing of Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon & family.”
Besides Najib, State Gerakan acting chairman Oh Tong Keong had offered his deepest condolences and said Gerakan had lost such a great icon, a soul loved by many.
Koh, who was at their family home was seen calm and had thanked everyone for their messages.
Chui’s remains had been taken to their family residence at Halaman Cantonment, Pulau Tikus here today for a religious ceremony and for the public to convey their last respects before her funeral which would be held on Thursday.
Koh and Chui have a son, Koh Yu Cheng and a daughter, Koh Yu Jun. — Bernama
