KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 — A male youth, who was believed to have knocked his car into a traffic policeman on a motorcycle in Jalan Kuching yesterday evening, was nabbed five hours later.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the youth, 19, was nabbed at a fast food restaurant in Desa Pandan at 9.30pm last night.

"Investigation revealed the white Perodua Axia car the suspect drove was rented for five days from a car rental service in Rawang since July 14,” he said in a statement here, today.

He said the suspect was remanded for three days from today to help in further investigation.

He said the case was investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

Yesterday, Lance Corporal Wan Mohd Fazly Wan Soho, 27, sustained a broken left hand after his motorcycle was hemmed up and knocked down by a car at the Jalan Kuching exit to the Government Housing Complex.

The traffic policeman was heading towards the Batu Caves roundabout which was closed following an accident on the route, in the incident at 4 pm.

He was chasing a car which had entered the closed route for about six kilometres when the motorist knocked him down, and escaped.

Wan Mohd Fazly was injured from the impact of the accident after falling onto the road and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. — Bernama
