KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — Traffic on the North-South Highway is reported to be congested from Kuala Kangsar to Simpang Pulai, a distance of some 30 kilometres, as at 1.30 pm today due the post-Aidifitri rush back to the Klang Valley.

A PLUS Malaysia Berhad said a contra-flow lane had also been activated from KM289.6 to KM 295.6, from Simpang Pulai to Gopeng, to ease traffic flow.

He said a minor accident also occurred at KM53.4 southbound from Simpang Renggam to Sedenak involving five vehicles but there were no casualties.

"The bumper-to-bumper accident involved two cars, two MPVs and a lorry. However, the lanes were not blocked,” he told Bernama.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said traffic on the East Coast Highway 1 was moving slowly from Lancang to the Karak toll plaza and Bentong toll plaza to Bukit Tinggi.

"The situation is under control at other stretches but traffic is expected to get worse later today,” he said.
