KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The Perdana Leadership Foundation has denied receiving any government funding to pay its employees.

According to New Straits Times today, the foundation said that the government only paid the rental for the office used by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad — who is also their honorary president. "The foundation has received no funding from the government related to its management and/ or the staff employed by it," it was quoted as saying. "The government's involvement in the foundation is purely as a tenant of premises for use as the office of the fourth prime minister (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad), for which the government is paying the rentals." Last Friday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Umno Supreme Council have decided in its monthly meeting that the government should stop channelling funds to the foundation which included allocation for its maintenance and employees.
