GEORGE TOWN, June 22 — Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah is holding the state executive council meeting in the unlikeliest place this morning — the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Penang Hospital here.

It’s the state government’s first meeting he has chaired after he was hospitalised on June 4.

Nine state executive councillors met with him in a small room within the ICU. The meeting started at 11am is expected to last two hours.

Ahmad Bashah was first hospitalised at Kedah Medical Centre on June 4 before he was transferred to the Penang Hospital on June 5.

He underwent an intestinal surgery here on June 6 and is still recuperating in the ICU.

Ahmad Bashah is expected to give a press conference after the meeting.
