KOTA TINGGI, June 21 — A single mother, her three daughters and a daughter-in law were sentenced to three years' jail each by the Magistrate's Court here today for theft, involving more than RM2,000 worth of cosmetic products from a shop here last Friday.
Magistrate Mazana Sinin handed down the sentence on Rohaya A Rahman, 57, sisters Maimunah Che Abdullah, 26; Noriza, 39, and Nurul Fatihah, 19, and Zariah Zakariya, 37, after they pleaded guilty to the charge.
They were ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest, which was June 19.
The five women were jointly charged with stealing in a building, involving cosmetic products of various brands worth RM2,171.50, at Kedai Produk Kesihatan dan Kecantikan Sri Tanjung, Jalan Anggerik 4/1, Taman Anggerik, Bandar Tenggara here, at about 11.40 am last June 17.
The products comprised Eniq World Dara Anggun G.Glowing Beauty Skin Set 5 in 1, worth RM68.90; Eniq World Dara Anggun G. Glowing Beauty Skin Set 4 In 1 (RM48.90); Eniq World Dara Anggun G.Glowing Collagen Gluta Q10 Soap (RM13.90); Eniq World Glow Glowing treatment Toner (RM24.90); Eniq World Glow Glowing Gold Serum (RM34.90); Eniq World Dara Anggun G. Glowing Night Glowing (RM18.90) and Eniq World Dara Anggun G. Glowing Night Glow (RM18.90).
They also admitted to stealing Eniq World Dara Anggun G. Glowing Day Pinky Beauty (RM18.90); Qu Puteh Whitening Treatment Soap (RM16.90); Qu Puteh whitening Glow Soap (RM16.90); Dnars Glowing Foundation 8G (RM36.90); Dnars Tumeric Cream 6GM (RM21.90); Dnars Silky Gold Foundation (OC) 5ml (RM31.90); Dnars Snow Cream (S) 5g (RM21.90); Dnars Snow Cream (N) 5g (RM21.90); Dnars Magic Day CR (S) 6g (RM21.90) and Dnars Magic Day CR(N) (Sunblock) 6G (RM21.90) belonging to Herba Sri Tanjung Sdn Bhd.
All of them were charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same law, which carries an imprisonment for up to 10 years and fine, and jail with fine or whipping for subsequent offence, upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Suhaila Shefiuddin, while the five women were represented by lawyer Nik Raihan Nik Jaafar. — Bernama
