PETALING JAYA, June 13 — An eight-year-old Palestinian boy fell to his death on Saturday when he tried to shut his house windows during a thunderstorm.

Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said police received an emergency call at 6.20pm informing them that a child had fallen from Block A of Banjaria Court in Batu Caves.

Majed A.M Abuzaid was alone with his sister Madona, 10, after their 28-year-old single mother, Suhayla Farsi Hussein Abuzaid, left for work at 11am.

“According to the sister, the boy had tried to shut the living room windows as it was raining heavily," Ali said.

He said the boy fell eight floors after he had climbed to close the windows in their rented unit.

Majed, who sustained serious head and body injuries, died at the scene.

The body was brought to Selayang Hospital for post-mortem. The case is being investigated for sudden death.
