SABAK BERNAM, June 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today demanded the Selangor government state if it supported PAS or Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) for the Sungai Besar by-election.

Selangor is headed by PKR that partners with Amanah in the Pakatan Harapan pact, but maintains ties with PAS from the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat alliance.

“The Selangor government must say who it supports, PAS or PAN (Amanah)?” Najib said after breaking fast with residents here.

“It is like tidur sebantal, tetapi mimpi berlainan,” he said, using the Malay proverb for sharing the same platform but towards different ends.

Najib then urged the crowd to vote for Barisan Nasional’s candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi, saying voting the coalition would mean strengthening his administration.

“When the federal government is strong, it will make Malaysia look good in the eyes of the investors,” he said.

Budiman is facing PAS’s Dr Abdul Rani Osman and Amanah’s Azhar Shukur in the June 18 poll.
