Native court marriage certs recognised at government health premises, minister says

PUTRAJAYA, June 8 — Marriage certificates registered with the Native Court in Sabah are valid as official marriage documents to seek health services at all health ministry facilities.

Minister, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said all citizens had the privilege and right to receive the best service at all government health facilities nationwide.

In a statement here today, he said the ministry was always concerned with the quality of health services provided to the people. 

Dr Subramaniam said the ministry took note of an incident in which a marriage certificate issued by a native court in Sabah was not accepted to enable the relevant party to receive health service at a government hospital. 

He said a clarification letter on the Financial Division Circular No.1, 2014 — Guidelines for Implementation of Fees Order (Medical)(Service Cost) 2014 was issued today to the Sabah State Secretary’s office, Sabah Native Affairs Office and the Sabah Health Department with interpretations and detailed explanation. — Bernama
