TAWAU, June 6 — Fire destroyed 40 squatter houses at Lorong Haji Abd Rahman, KM8, Jalan Apas, last night.

Tawau Fire and Rescue operations officer Faisal Ahmad said four fire trucks with 28 personnel were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 11.26pm.

“The fire was put under control at 12.53pm and completely extinguished by 6.06am,” he said in a statement here today.

He said there were no casualties and the cause and estimated losses were being investigated. — Bernama
