Ahmad Zahid’s son-in-law dies

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 ― Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's son-in-law, Datuk Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi died while receiving treatment at a dental clinic in Bangsar here yesterday.

According to a family member who declined to be named, Syed Alman Zain, 44,who was the husband of Ahmad Zahid's eldest daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah, 37, had gone to the clinic about 6pm for treatment, together with a friend, before he was reported to have fallen unconscious.

“He was then rushed to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) where he was confirmed dead,” he told reporters when met at the UMMC here today.

According to the family member, as of midnight, a post-mortem was in the midst of being carried out.

Syed Alman Zain's remains will be sent to Country Heights, Kajang for prayers at Surau An-Nur before burial at the Sungai Ramal Muslim cemetery in Kajang, on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a grief-stricken Nurulhidayah posted on Instagram: “Al Fatihah. Syed Alman Zain bin Syed Alwi. Great Papa. Responsible husband. I lost someone that I could argue with. Bye, sayang (my love).”

Ahmad Zahid, currently on an official visit to Japan is expected to return to the country early tomorrow.

Syed Alman Zain, a graduate in information technology from Universiti Utara Malaysia was the chief executive officer of iGen Technology M Sdn Bhd, an independent software vendor. ― Bernama
