KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Anti-corruption officials went to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s house to obtain additional information, his lawyer clarified following a report the home was raided.

Ramkarpal Singh also said no items were confiscated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators who went to Lim’s house on Jalan Pinhorn in George Town earlier.

“It was not a raid. Just a follow-up from the last time he (Lim) and his wife had their statement recorded,” Ramkarpal told Malay Mail Online.

Ramkarpal, who is also DAP MP for Bukit Gelugor, added the MACC team left the premises around 3.30pm.

Earlier, the Star Online news portal reported the event as a raid, but has since amended it to a visit by the MACC.

The MACC opened investigation on Lim and his wife, Betty Chew, after complaints were lodged against the Penang CM’s purchase of his house for RM2.8 million, which Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya claimed was below market value.

Lim’s accusers also linked the house purchase to his administration’s sale of state land in Taman Manggis, which is under a related MACC investigation.
