SUNGAI PETANI, May 20 — A man was killed after he lost control of his car due to drowsiness and crashed into the back of a lorry, at KM100.8 of the North South Expressway, at about 6.10am today.
Kuala Muda District police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the victim, identified as Yaakub Abas, 57, of Air Hitam, Jitra, was seriously injured in the head and chest, and died on the way to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, here.
“Initial investigations have revealed that the two vehicles were in the left lane of the route from Alor Setar to Butterworth,” he told Bernama.
He said, however, lorry driver V. Muniandy, 35, was not injured while further investigations were still being conducted. — Bernama
