KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — An elderly woman was fined RM500 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after she pleaded guilty to offering sexual service to a policeman, two days ago.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid also ordered Norbibah Shamsudin, 60, to be jailed for ten days if she failed to pay the fine.

The unemployed woman was accused of offering sex service for the purpose of prostitution to the policeman in front of a fruits shop at Jalan Sultan, Dang Wangi, here at 8.50pm, on May 18.

The accused, who was unrepresented, was charged under Section 372(B) of the Penal Code, which carries a one-year jail term or fine or both.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim urged the court to impose a commensurate sentence, to serve as a lesson for the accused.

However, the accused pleaded for leniency. — Bernama
