MUAR, May 12 — A trader was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with killing a policeman in Sungai Abong near here almost a fortnight ago.

According to the charge sheet, R M Azrull Hisyam Hussin, 32, was alleged to have killed Corporal Roydin Jamaluddin from the Muar Police headquarters in a roadside drain in Jalan Kampung Tengah, Sungai Abong, here between 7.45 am and 8.30 am on April 30.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death penalty if convicted.

Unrepresented Azrull was seen calm and nodded in understanding when the charged was read to him by a court interpreter before Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar.

However, no plea was recorded.

June 14 was set for remention pending completion of chemistry and post mortem reports.
