SUBANG JAYA, May 11 — Residents of a Subang Jaya neighbourhood want Prasarana Malaysia Bhd's assurance the ongoing Light Rail Transit (LRT) project will not be a danger in future.

At a press conference here, Restrees USJ17 resident Gan Boon Sin said there were cracks along their fencing walls due to the construction.

“There are many cracks along the perimeter fencing. You can also see cracks at the foundation as well. What happens if this wall collapses five years down the road?” the 53-year-old businessman said.

“They (Prasarana) said it is not structurally dangerous. But we require a guarantee or letter of undertaking from Prasarana for compensation and reconstruction if any accidents occur in future.”

Gan added that residents using the club house's swimming pool were uncomfortable as commuters can see them from the LRT station's balcony.

“We were promised shields around the station but we do not see any now the station is almost done,” he said.

The residents have been sending their complaints to Prasarana since last year.

Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han added that the residents' complaints are fair and Prasarana should look into the matter.

Prasarana's communications and strategic marketing executive vice president Lim Jin Aun said they will release a statement on this issue tomorrow.
