KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said today the firm has inspected and remedied some of the safety concerns raised by residents of a Subang Jaya neighbourhood regarding the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

In a statement, Prasarana's communications and strategic marketing executive vice president Lim Jin Aun said upon inspection, the firm found no cracks as stated by the residents along their fencing walls.

"We have inspected and found no crack on the fence wall of the residents. Cracks were found on the fence wall of an adjacent development, and the cracks had been remedied," he said.

"We took into consideration the residents’ concern on visual intrusion and are installing the screens at strategic locations of the station. Installation of the screens are expected to be completed by end June."

Earlier today, Restrees USJ17 residents urged for Prasarana's assurance that the LRT project near their neighbourhood would not pose any dangers in the future.

At a press conference, resident Gan Boon Sin said there were cracks along their fencing walls due to ongoing construction on the railway line and expressed concern that it might collapse in the future.

Gan added that residents using the club house's swimming pool were uncomfortable as commuters could see them from the LRT station's balcony and questioned where the promised “shields” were from Prasarana.
