KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 ― Over 30 female students and several male counterparts experienced mass hysteria at a school in Kelantan and caused it to close early yesterday.

The Star newspaper reported that the incident occurred at SMK Pengkalan Chepa II that has a history of such attacks, with over 1,000 students sent home ahead of time following the incident.

The school had to enlist the help of two Civil Defence ambulances to take the students who were “screaming and yelling for no apparent reason” to the nearest government clinic.

A form two student interviewed by the daily said the incident occurred around 10am, when several students started running amok.

“This hysteria is much worse than the last one. I saw my classmate was screaming at the top of her voice and was aggressive… it's much scarier than the last one I saw.

“The affected students were immediately brought to the school's infirmary with the help of civil defence personnel to ensure that our classes were not disrupted,”he was quoted as saying.

Last month, Bernama reported several schools in Kelantan suffering from hysterical attacks, with 50 female students and teachers of SMK Pengkalan Chepa II were reportedly struck by hysteria.
