KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 — Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today for his intervention that let him carry on as Terengganu mentri besar.
The state Umno leader who was recently stripped of all his state titles also said he was glad the speculation surrounding his government position has been resolved, The Star Online reported.
“I am thankful to God and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for the trust he has in me and also thankful to him for his commitment in resolving this issue which has engulfed the state of late.
“All speculation and assumptions throughout the week have all been answered after the Prime Minister made his statement,” he was quoted saying in a statement issued in Kuala Terengganu.
Ahmad Razif urged all naysayers to set aside their scepticism and move forward.
“I also believe there is a blessing in disguise in what took place” he was quoted adding, without elaborating.
Earlier today, Najib told a news conference here that he had met with the Terengganu sultan and Ahmad Razif was to continue as the east coast state mentri besar.
Speculation had been rife earlier this month that a new mentri besar may be appointed or snap polls called, after Ahmad Razif’s state awards were rescinded.
