DAP’s Rayer’s sedition trial to resume on June 27

GEORGE TOWN, April 28 — The trial of DAP assemblyman for Seri Delima, RSN Rayer who allegedly used seditious words in the Penang state legislative assembly two years ago, will be resumed on June 27 after three prosecution witnesses testified today.

The three prosecution witnesses who testified in the Sessions Court on the first day of the trial were the assembly stenographer Rusli Kamaruddin, Teluk Bahang Umno Youth chief Mohd Ridzuad Mohd Azuddin and investigating officer Inspector Simon Kent.

Another prosecution witness who was supposed to testify today was the state assembly Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang who could not attend as he was overseas.

Rayer, a lawyer has pleaded not guilty to the charge of uttering allegedly seditious words during a debate at the Penang State Assembly, at 9.30am on May 20, 2014.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Lim Cheah Yit, while Rayer was represented by counsel Gobind Singh Deo. — Bernama
