KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 ― Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) today offered to help schools suffering from mass hysteria with their well-known anti-hysteria kit, which was sold at a whopping RM8,750.

Astro Awani quoted the university's Islamic Centre and Human Development director, Dr Mahyuddin Ismail as saying that they will only offer their services to those who approached them.

“Our concern is if the patient is being treated by any other practitioner before us. Like seeking medical treatment, only if you don't recover after seeking treatment from a particular doctor that you'd seek other avenues,” he was quoted as saying.

“But if the patient specifically wants our help, then of course we'll help.”

However, Dr Mahyuddin told Astro Awani that the anti-hysteria kit would not be available commercially for safety reasons despite claiming they had successfully solved 100 cases with it.

On April 30 last year, UMP revealed its anti-hysteria kit comprising everyday items such as chopsticks, salt, lime, vinegar, pepper spray, and formic acid that it claimed can ward off “evil spirits”.

Last week, Bernama reported several schools in Kelantan suffering from hysterical attacks, with 50 female students and teachers of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Chepa II were reportedly struck by hysteria.
