KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 — Aimed at providing daily necessities at a lower price, Giant hypermarket launched its house brand, Giant Brand, at its Section 13, Shah Alam outlet yesterday.
Regional director of GCH Retail Malaysia, Datuk Tim Ashdown, said Giant hoped to offer consumers an alternative to quality products through its house brand products at a cost effective price range.
“What customers say to us is that they worry about the rising cost of living and we will do everything we can to keep prices as low as possible to help as many Malaysian families,” he said.
According to Ashdown, each Giant brand product is offered at its lowest price in its category for best value and quality.
“If you take 20 Giant brand products that are in most customers’ baskets and compare them to the leading national brands for that category, our prices are 35 per cent cheaper,” he said.
Currently offering over 600 products, all Giant brand products are halal certified and approved by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
“Each product is clearly specified for quality and to prove this point, consumer panels were invited to taste and use the products to ensure they are right for our customers,” he said.
Ashdown said the 600 products were daily essentials like rice, oil, flour, cleaning products, personal care and baby care products.
“It’s not just groceries. You will find Giant brand products in the frozen food section like ice cream, nuggets and frankfurters too,” he said.
Ashdown added that from 600 products, the number was projected to increase to 1,000 by year end.
“We will continually try find ways to make shopping at Giant a better experience for our customers by offering promotions.”
Giant also has introduced a Stamp and Win Contest from yesterday to May 4 and customers stand a chance to win vouchers totalling RM10,000 with a minimum purchase of RM15 of Giant house brand.
