KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — A childminder at a kindergarten pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of abusing her adopted daughter.

Nor Asiah Mohamed Ali, 48, was charged with abusing the girl at Tadika An-Nur, No 1, Jalan Bukit Indah  2/17, Taman Bukit Indah, here between 2015 and April 8 this year.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin, who prosecuted, offered bail at RM10,000 and requested the court to impose additional condition for the woman to not disturb the victim.

"I'm made to understand that the victim is under the care of the Social Welfare Department and currently under treatment at Ampang Hospital," he added.

However, lawyer Samry Masri, representing Nor Asiah, requested for a lower bail, saying that there was no possibility of his client absconding.

He said Nor Asiah had a child, aged 25.

Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor allowed her bail of RM4,000 with one surety and also warned the accused to not disturb the victim.

The court set May 19 for mention. — Bernama
