JOHOR BARU, April 14 — The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, today expressed confidence in Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in the wake of rumours of attempts to topple the mentri besar.
He said the state government under Mohamed Khaled’s leadership had elevated Johor not only nationally but also at the Asian level.
“The success that has been achieved under his leadership has allowed Johor to move forward in its effort to become a major economic hub in the region,” Sultan Ibrahim said when opening the first meeting of the fourth session of the 13th Johor State Legislative Assembly at Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim here.
Also present at the opening was the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris and Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman.
A news portal recently reported there were moves to topple Mohamed Khaled.
Sultan Ibrahim also said that irresponsible parties should not spread lies about the state leadership.
“I have faith in the mentri besar and am confident of the present line-up of state leaders. I hope no members of the assembly are ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ trying to undermine the political stability in Johor.
“Do not equate Johor with other states,” he said, adding that the people of Johor were loyal to religion, race and country, had nothing to fear as they were honest, and united in the face of challenges and in the pursuit of truth. — Bernama
